References to Asexuality in the Sexuality Discrimination Inquiry (Australia)
The Sexuality Discrimination Inquiry (1997) proposed new legislation to protect Australians from discrimination and vilification on the grounds of sexuality or transgender identity. The draft legislation was ultimately abandoned, but the final version would have included asexual people. There is no evidence of direct consultation with asexual people, however there are two hearings where the inclusion is discussed: one with the Federation of Community Legal Centres (volume 3, 8 August 1996) and one with Mr Kendall (volume 6, 23 September 1996).
